All potential officers are carefully pre-screened by a professional interviewer and must meet the following basic requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Consumer Affairs "Guard Registration" card
- Valid "Class C" California driver's license
- Minimum of 2000 hours work experience
If an applicant meets these basic requirements, an extensive background check is completed:
- Social Security number verification
- Date of birth verification
- Current and previous address verification
- County criminal records search
- Credential and license verification
- Credit check
- Judgments, liens and bankruptcy search
- DMV "Pull Notice" review
- Reference checks with past three employers
